Remittance inflow falls marginally in September

The remittance inflow to the country in September fell marginally to US$ 1,043 million from $1,183.61 million in August, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) official data. The BB latest data also showed that the monthly inflow of remittance was lower than $1,349.06 million which the country received in the same month last year. The data also showed that the expatriate Bangladeshis had used more private banking channels as they sent remittances of $712.12 million during the period.
Six state-owned commercial banks-Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, BASIC and BDBL- received $308.95 million while two state-owned specialised banks $11 million, the data added. But, the expatriate Bangladeshis have sent only $10.94 million through foreign commercial banks. Among the private commercial banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) received the highest amount of remittance of $252.58 million while Dutch Bangla Bank $48.92 million.Of the state-owned banks, Agrani Bank received $113.90 million, Janata Bank $83.18 million, Rupali Bank $18.69 million and Sonali Bank $93.09 million.
